Cameraman/Filmmaker for Contemporary Art Gallery

island6 is an artist-founded, artist-run project, managed by voluntary staff, and based in Shanghai’s M50 Arts District with a production site and an adjoining gallery for new media artwork.

island6 is devoted to displaying the cutting-edge, humorous, multimedia artwork of the Liu Dao art collective. Through fusing new media techniques with traditional Chinese art forms, Liu Dao has exhibited globally in prestigious art fairs, been commissioned by fashion-heavyweights and prominent International brands, and has expanded to 5 galleries across Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Phuket, Thailand.

island6 is currently seeking a Cameraman to contribute to our team.

Candidates should be reliable, self-motivated, and highly knowledgeable of all stages of film production, as well as related equipment and software. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

-documenting performances and sets to be used in Liu Dao’s multimedia artworks

-documenting and producing “making of” videos and exhibition films

-filming and photographing island6 events and gallery operations

-acting as foley artist for all of the above

We are looking for candidates who are serious about developing a career in the art industry. Punctuality, professionalism, and passion for art is key to a successful partnership with island6.

Requirements: 

-Already residing in Shanghai

-Extensive knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and AfterEffects

-Hours: six days a week, from 11am – 7pm. Must be able to work weekends.

-Willing to work events and openings

-Student/ Business visa (no tourist visas, please)

-High competency in oral English
