This summer, Shanghai IFC mall is presenting visitors with a “Summer Safari,” a collection of colorful 3D animal sculptures, inviting the city’s guests to be part of an energetic safari experience.
The exhibition runs through September 3 and can be found in the central lobby on the mall’s first floor. The exhibition is split into three main attractions: the jungle kaleidoscope, a dynamic flamingo park, and the colorful zebra garden.
The animal sculptures include Africa’s “Big Five” game animals: lion, elephant, cape buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros, as well as zebras, giraffes, and a number of birds. The sixteen sculptures are the work of famed Australian illustrator and graphic designer Shanti Sparrow, and combine her unique design style with vibrant colors to create life-like yet fantastic safari creatures.
The first attraction, the jungle kaleidoscope area, uses a gem facet design and stained glass walls to create a dazzling, kaleidoscope-like mirror world. This is where Africa’s “Big Five” game animals can be seen. A video projection creates a dynamic lake at the center of the attraction, revealing to visitors a 2-meter long, multi-colored alligator swimming beneath the surface.
