PARK and Ride facilities have opened to public near the Metro Line 11’s Nanxiang and Anting stations with 180 and 200 spaces respectively.
The P+R lots are aimed at promoting energy-saving and environmentally friendly transport, attracting car owners to transfer to the Metro lines with discounted parking fees.
To encourage more car owners to take the Metro, the government has fixed parking fees for the P+R lots. From 5:30am to 11:30pm, public transport card holders can enjoy discounted parking fees if the card shows a Metro trip has been taken that day.
The fee at the Anting station is 5 yuan (80 US cents) a day while the Nanxiang station charges 10.
To take advantage of the discounted parking prices, commuters must use their public transport card between 5:30am and 11:30pm and pay the parking fee with the same card before leaving.
The balance in the card must be no less than 30 yuan when entering the lot and no less than 10 yuan when leaving the parking place.
