NASA program out-of-this-world opportunity for budding scientists
2015-05-12

The Houston Association for Space and Science Education’s “Learn Beyond The Classroom” is an international study program integrating American culture, space, science, medicine and marine life for students between 11 and 15 years old.

Through the program, students will get to know what it takes to become a scientist, flight commander or astronaut through mission simulator training. The program is designed to promote independent thinking while also developing students’ abilities to set goals and execute projects.

By getting the chance to simulate reallife mission operations, students are encouraged to think outside-of-thebox, bring out their creative sides and solve problems with teams. The program combines management principles, motivational applications and experiential learning on-site at NASA. NASA engineers, scientists and managers will give presentations to students.

Dr Leroy Chiao, a former NASA astronaut and the commander of ISS Expedition 10, is currently special adviser to the HASSE Space School. Students will gain a deeper knowledge of NASA’s core principals by taking part in simulated projects like a mission to Mars.

Upon completion, the students will be awarded two international certificates: a certificate from the US Space & Rocket Center and a certificate from HASSE.

Scientific experiments, flight simulation, rock-climbing, sports contests: HASSE’s Junior Space School has everything to create an immersive experience that encourages self-confidence, patience, teamwork and knowledge-building!

Come and join us at HASSE this summer!
