36 hours in Shanghai

You still can have a good time in Shanghai if you have made a good plan even though you can stay at Shanghai for only 36 hours. Here is a plan you can refer to.

In the afternoon, go to the Bund to appreciate the classic European buildings. Some people think looking at these buildings is like roaming in an International Architecture Exhibition. It is thought to be the first stop for many travelers and has been a symbol of Shanghai. Near the Bund is Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. It will take you the whole afternoon to visit. Various shops stand on both sides of the street where you can buy almost everything you want, like the snacks and traditional Shanghai food in Shanghai First Foodmall building, clothes and shoes in the specialty shop of different brands, cosmetics and bags in the department stores. If you are tired you can have a cup of coffee or a light beer at the coffee shop or bar on the street. When the night is approaching, the lights of many symbolic buildings are lit, and standing on the Bund, you can have a spectacular view of colorful skylines in Pudong.



For Dinner, you can go to the Old Temple where there are delicious Shanghai snacks. The Old Temple is also a well-known tourist attraction. Here you can experience the traditional Shanghai culture which is quite different from the modern one. You can find items like the fans, dishes, Qipao, silk scarfs and other handcrafts in many stores. In a word, the Old Temple is a great place to buy souvenirs.


Transportation: Take the Maglev train at Pudong Airport Station, transfer to metro line 2 at Longyang Road Station and get off at People's Square Station. From here you can walk to the Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street which talks about 15 minutes People's Square - the Bund, Nanjing Road

For the next day, in the morning, you can visit Xintiandi, which is based on sets of old Shikumen buildings. After restoration, the old buildings accommodate modern dazzling fashion items. Xintiandi has become one of the symbols of "Shanghai culture". Here you can find first-class restaurants and bars, artworks and clothing boutiques. You can spend a whole morning shopping to your heart. Besides, the site of First National Congress of the Communist Party of China is next to Xintiandi where there are a lot of precious historical items exhibited. 


Transportation: take metro line 1 and get off at South Huangpi Station

In the afternoon, you can go to Lujiazui to enjoy the rhythm and style of the financial center. Here you can visit Oriental Pearl TV Tower to have a bird’s view of the city or Shanghai Ocean Aquarium to explore the underwater world.
