Action-Packed Year Sees Mercedes-Benz Arena Smash Records in 2015
2015 has been a year of milestones for the Mercedes-Benz Arena. Over the past 12 months the Mercedes Benz Arena hosted 243 events including 101 performances in the main arena and 142 in The Mixing Room breaking its previous record set in 2014 by 159 events. Attendance figures also rose to an all time high reaching over 840,000 fans compared to 600,000 in 2014. The Mercedes Benz Arena has solidified itself as the number one entertainment venue in China and Asia.
This year, the Mercedes-Benz Arena also attracted numerous domestic, regional and international pop-superstars, including: Katy Perry & Taylor Swift, Jonathan Lee, The Years of Friendship and Ice Age. It also played host to games held by the NBA Global Games China and the first ever regular season of NCAA PAC 12 which is internationally televised.
Speaking on the successes of 2015, Mercedes-Benz Arena Chairman, Huang Jin, said: “Our partnership that pairs local resources with international management has allowed us to grow and develop at an incredible pace. It has very much been a step-by-step approach from hosting the Shanghai Expo in 2010 up to hosting over 100 events this year, but we’re just getting started.”

On the performance front, 2015’s success has led to a huge amount of interest in the Mercedes-Benz Arena by national and international acts. Jim Foss, the General Manager of the Mercedes-Benz Arena said: “At the moment we cannot disclose any specific names, but we can confirm that we have locked in a number of unbelievable superstars in 2016”.
