Temperatures rise but showers to stay
By Ni Yinbin

THE showers will still be around but the temperatures are likely to climb above 30 degrees Celsius again next week, according to the weatherman.

The overcast weather should turn cloudy over the weekend with the high likely to hit 31 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The maximum temperature should keep climbing on Monday and reach 33 degrees Celsius, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

Due to a shear line, Shanghai witnessed heavy shower in most part of the city yesterday. In south, the precipitation even reached 50 millimeters, said Zhu Jiehua, a chief service officer of the bureau.

"The city should still remain under the plum rain belt for the next two days and the weather should be mostly rainy and overcast as well," Zhu said. "The weather should turn better on Sunday and the temperature will climb as well with the strengthening of a subtropical high but the afternoon thundershowers should be frequent."

According to the bureau's forecast, today will be overcast to cloudy with brief shower and the mercury will range between a low of 22 degrees Celsius and a high of 27.
