Book shop owners pack their goods at the Shanghai Confucian Temple in downtown Huangpu District yesterday. Built in 1294, the temple was originally a place to study Confucianism. In 1993, a secondhand book market opened there, becoming the biggest in the city. Now a wholesale book market near the secondhand book market is being relocated to Daning Road in Zhabei District. The three-month relocation project began on July 6. It has not been disclosed what the temple will next be used for.
