No sign of thunderstorms for jingzhe, wet weather to remain
2014-03-07
By Ke Jiayun

There was no thunder yesterday, known in solar terms as jingzhe, because of a lack of severe convective weather in the city.

Jingzhe is traditionally known to awaken hibernating insects with  thunderstorms.

Drizzle will likely remain in the city  under the cover of grey clouds until tomorrow. From Sunday, a dry and cloudy condition will lift the temperatures but  light showers will return on Tuesday.

Temperatures today will range between 4 and 10 degrees Celsius.

The high will stay below 10 degrees for only one day — Saturday, when a high of 8 and a low of 5 is expected.

Sunday’s high will climb back to double digits with readings of 11 and 12  degrees.

Lows from Saturday to Monday will fluctuate between 4 and 5 degrees. A warmer low of 7 degrees is forecast for Tuesday.

Local weather bureau reported that more rain and snow were recorded in February this year than the average of previous two decades (1981-2010).
