Design with a conscience is the concept behind this 100-square-meter loft retail destination hidden in a factory above the busy lanes of Tianzifang. The first kids clothing line joining Nest was Wobabybasics, started by mom and entrepreneur Sherry Poon. She got the idea for Wobabybasics while searching for organic clothes for her new-born daughter. After an extensive search showed limited available products, she decided to start her own business selling 100 percent organic cotton children's basics. The idea was to make layette baby items that are comfortable, low-maintenance, durable, functional and attractive to reduce consumer consumption. After Poon, Brigitte Elie, also a long-term Shanghai resident and a mom, designs and sells her ecoBibi products (practical baby, mother and lifestyle accessories) at Nest. Elie has always been passionate about environmentally friendly practices and products, and the lack of well designed green products in the city led her to design her own. Her designs use a combination of sustainable fabrics such as bamboo textile, organic cotton, wool and hemp. Bamboo fabric is 60 percent more absorbent than cotton and has antibacterial properties. Her new baby collections include changing mats, bath towels, bibs and burp cloths and mothers' breast pads and nursing covers, with prices from 35 yuan to 285 yuan.
