Shanghai is experiencing a new generation of wine shops offering greater selection to local consumers, despite shoppers continuing to show a clear preference for French labels. Based on the cellar concept, French Touch International (FTI) opened early this year on Sinan Road, stocking wines from around the world but 70 percent of them from France. It also offers a selection of imported daily French delicacies, spirits and wine ware with impeccable customer service. With an attached 600-square-meter garden, the 220-squaremeter showroom presents an authentic cave atmosphere. Events manager Alan Simendinger says FTI’s specialty is to stage events that introduce people to wine tastings complimented by product from the French delicatessen. In order to let people experience the passion and pleasure of good wine, wine makers and wine professionals are invited to conduct lectures in the boutique cellar on a regular basis.
