Dodo Picture Book Club, which opened in Shanghai on June 1, is said to be the biggest children’s club in the city.
Located near Huamu area in Pudong, the club covers an area of about 1,000 square meters spread over two floors at the Zendai Himalayas Center. Painted in bright and vivid colors, the club is decorated into a wonderland -- green trees, polychrome bookshelves, small chairs and activity areas with cartoon figures. All these elements create a comfortable space for children to enjoy the abundance of books.
From popular science to fairy tales, almost all kinds of picture books can be found here for kids from zero to eight years old. The club also offers space for parents to join their children when the staff read out the picture books.
Dodo Picture Book Club has more than 10,000 books. Among them, about 20 percent are original English editions from overseas.
Dodo has also tied-up with the National Geographic Learning to offer original science books for different age groups of children. It also provides children with a platform to participate in interactive and experimental activities on popular science.
Dodo insists on membership that allows kids to visit the club any time. Staff here would tell stories on books kids selected, while parents should be here accompanied with their kids at the same time, enjoying the parenting moment with kids.
More activities like mini story-telling sessions and lectures by educators and well-known picture books’ editors will also be available here. It will not only help children and fire their curiosity and imagination about the world, but will also help parents to know more about children’s education.
