HMSHost International, world leader in food and beverage services for travellers, presents the official opening of the first Bistrot restaurant at Bailian Shiji Shopping center in Pudong New Area.
As the first restaurant of the brand, the restaurant offers authentic Italian food, handmade pizzas and pastas, freshly baked breads, locally grown vegetables and carefully selected traditional products. As Bistrot is inherited from Italy, its passion for food, its inspiration for culinary culture and its high expectation for premium quality well represents theItalian core value.
“As consumers are exploring the world, they are always looking for an original taste and experience. Therefore we are excited to bring an authentic taste of Italian food to China and open our first Bistrot restaurant in the business district of Shanghai,” Walter Seib, CEO of HMSHost International said. “We look forward to creating even more places to be for Chinese consumers. We are delighted with the initial reactions on our brand.”
The brand Bistrot is developed in collaboration with The University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, which was initiated and promoted by the Slow Food Association. HMSHost International works together with local and international suppliers that share the passion for the slow food philosophy on good, clean and fair food.
One of these suppliers is “Rainbow of Hope,” a local platform through which local farmers in China are supported. The farmers adopt ecologically sustainable and traditional farming techniques, which allows them to avoid chemicals. The ingredients, for example potatoes and charcoal (pork), are processed with a lot of care which results in an enjoyable farm-to-table dining experience in Bistrot.
The recommended dishes are Pasta Scoglio, multi-flavoured pizza, seafood antipasto, Cotoletta alla Milanese, sirloin beef, and Italian San Daniele ham and melon.
Next to these local products, Bistrot offers a combination of international and local beverages. The Italian craft beers Baladin and the micro-brewery Boxing Cat from Shanghai. Both embracing traditional brewing techniques and working with the perfect natural ingredients.
In the hot beverages category Bistrot proudly works with its Neapolitan Kimbo espresso that allow Barista’s to perform the latte art in the restaurant. As tea is an important category in China, a lot of effort has been made to source the right tea partner. By serving NenlüTea, the Chinese tea culture is brought to the modern art through innovation and creativity. Nenlü can be translated as “fresh and green,” and is portrayed by the green flush that covers the landscape during spring.
