This curved eight-story apartment building is located at the corner of Nanjing Road W. and Shimen No. 1 Rd. Completed in 1936, it was designed by H. S. Luke and Wu Jingqi and the property belonged to China Bank at the time. Limited by the landscape, none of the apartments are square or rectangular and some of them are anomalous. It was rare among apartment complexes built in the 1930s. Looking at it from the side before viewing the front, you can see the innovative way the architects have dealt with the limited road corner space. The accent is on verticality. Now, the ground floor serves as the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and the second to eighth floors are for residence.
