Add:338 Danshui Rd
The beautiful garden villa on Danshui Road is the former site of the first cadre meeting of the Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party which took place on August 9, 1930. The villa welcomes you with an impressive garden and stone footpath that leads to the front door where you can find the statue of Deng Yanda (1895-1931), founder of the Chinese Nationalist Party (renamed Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party in 1947.) Deng was an important commander in the Northern Expedition (1926-1928) which the Nationalists launched to unify China. When Chiang Kai-shek broke with the Chinese Communist Party and Russia, Deng denounced Chiang and left China for Russia and Europe. On his return to China, Deng attempted to form a new party. The party's original members were left-wing Nationalists and expelled Communists. Deng was secretly executed by Chiang Kai-shek in 1931.
