This 1930s-style restaurant offers Shanghainese family food with upscale flair. With colorful stained-glass windows, dark wood furniture and bright fabrics, this rather small restaurant creates a vibe that you are a guest in someone's house. Previously a clothes shop owner, head chef Yu Meiping turned to her true passion of cooking and converted her storefront to the cozy restaurant it is today. With no fixed menu, it's as authentic as they come, as every meal is prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients. The venue seats only up to 22 people, so making reservations at least a day in advance is a must as the chef will make a custom menu for her guests at around 200 yuan per person. The cheaper option, a 38 yuan set lunch, will get you two cold dishes, three hot dishes, one soup, rice and fruit.
