Carrying out the boutique theme of many TK Terrace shops, The Gallery is a thimble-sized exhibition space, with fewer than a dozen works on its walls. This is the third Gallery branch in Shanghai, after others recently opened on Moganshan Road and Anfu Road. In contrast to a commercial enterprise, The Gallery describes itself as an art collective, created by a group of people motivated by their love of art. Its founders are Molly Lee, a Malaysian advertising executive and Chinese art lover, and her partner Sai Kit Loke. The galleries aim to nurture young artists and support charities through sales. Fourteen artists' works are displayed across the three galleries at any one time, and the works are rotated every three months. This branch now features work by Yu Qiping, whose paintings depict grotesque visions of typical Chinese workers in daily life, and Peng Peng, who paints flirty cartoon-style interpretations of pin-up girls.
