The Exhibition of Shanghai Urban History and Development Museum gives you a vivid and impressive view on Shanghai City's historical evolution starting from the time when Shanghai became a commercial port linking China and the world. The Museum displays over 1,000 cultural relics and about 100 wax figures over an area of approximately 10,000 square meters.
The consummate combination of multimedia technology and exquisite architectural models help you travel back in time. The Museum shows various aspects of Shanghai in her forming days, laid out in six halls. The Prologue Hall: History of the traffic. The First Hall: Features of the Old City. The Second Hall: Foreign Concessions and Stone-framed-door House. The Third Hall: The Metropolis with Foreign Adventurers. The Fourth Hall: The Past Traces of Shanghai. The Fifth Hall: Architecture Collection.
In May of 2001, Shanghai History Museum, established in 1983, was moved into the Oriental Pearl Tower and formed the current urban history and development museum.
