At the back of a beautiful courtyard is one of the area's most inspiring fashion collaborations. William the Beekeeper - the original store opened on Fenyang Road more than a year ago - has opened a second shop in a space-sharing endeavor with new fashion enterprise Xinlelu.com. The space, which is simple and modern in design, is split into two: one section displaying vintage-style designs by William the Beekeeper's primary designer Kaileeni; the other acting as a showroom for online fashion boutique Xinlelu.com. The two boutiques work seamlessly together, offering a wide variety of high-quality designer clothing and accessories which are similar in style. There is a quirky undertone to the concept, highlighted by the use of flowing, feminine fabrics, unusual, handcrafted jewelry and interesting designs. Additionally, the collaboration hosts monthly events in the courtyard; these include flea markets and design bazaars. Xinlelu.com, an independent design collective that launched in April, uses the space on Wuyuan Road as a showroom to display a small selection of its collection. The clothes are mostly manufactured in China, though with several collections imported. Xinlelu.com currently includes more than 20 different designers, including Bubble Mood and Aijek. The showroom allows customers to gain a more tangible idea of the pieces on offer and displays an array of different fabrics, colors and designs. Prices range from 300 yuan (US$47.6) to more than 2,000 yuan, with the aim of providing women with that special, statement piece.
