The Mid-lake Pavilion Tea House (湖心亭 hú xīn tíng) is one of the more popular and premier tea houses in Shanghai with the longest history. As the name suggests, this two-storey Mid-Lake Pavillion tea house is situated irght in the middle of the Lotus Pond at the Yuyuan Garden of  Old Town. Originally built in 1784 during the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), it has attracted many political leaders and celebrities from all over the world. You can enjoy tea and snacks such as preserved plums and small glutinous rice dumplings while watching the tea art performance group or listening to traditional music.

Directions: Take Metro Line No.1 to Huangpi S. metro station exit 2, walk straight and cross two traffic lights, turn right at Wang Jiao Restaurant and take bus 932 towards Yu yuan Garden.
