F525 Creative Woods is located at the site of the ancient Fahua Temple that dates back to the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 960-1127). The temple was one of the four largest Buddhist monasteries in old Shanghai and was damaged in the war against the Japanese aggression (1937-1945). After 1949, it became a garment factory.
After DOBE obtained the management right of the factory, it found a new role for the heritage site and turned it into a creative industry hub. While renovating the main prayer hall of the Fahua Temple, workers discovered the original pillars that still stand after hundreds of years but were covered by a thick layer of dust.
F525 Creative Woods has received many visitors from home and abroad since it opened to the public on June 11.
