Some local folk proclaim this to be the finest dining you can get in town. There are reasons for this. It's one of the only places (if not the only) that serves authentic Tan cuisine. Tan Imperial Cuisine dates back to the 1700's and was the food reserved for the nobility. Basically, it's expensive, but the ingredients, preparation and presentation warrant such a price. Alright, don't let this scare you. The menu has plenty of reasonably-priced dishes for people on fixed budgets.
The Landison has the most restaurants of any hotel in town, and the reason they can pull this off is that they are smaller than the norm. There is no open dining area in the Palace, only tables elegantly divided with strings of glass beads. The music is pleasant, especially when the live guqin player gets strumming. Classy. That’s the best word to describe the Summer Palace. So, when you're up for a little of it, this is a great restaurant to experience it.
