London-based speed/power metal band Dragonforce may not be a household name, but chances are you’ve heard their whiplash-fast track “Through the Fire and the Flames,” which is revered by metalheads and wondered at by everyone else thanks to the lightning riffs of lead guitarist Herman Li, a Hong Kong native.
His signature guitar licks sound more like glitchy
electronic music than anything made by a human playing an organic
instrument and the song has been featured in several video games -- most
infamously as the toughest song to beat on Guitar Hero III -- for this reason.
Dragonforce is touring China this September as part of the 15th anniversary celebrations of Beijing-based heavy metal magazine Painkiller. Go mosh into the future with them -- and probably every metalhead within a 100-mile radius of Shanghai.
