A Bu Jazz Trio will give a concert at Shanghai City Theater on May 7. Group frontman A Bu started studying classical piano at the age of four. The trio was formed in 2011 and consists of piano-player A Bu, bass-player Kengo Nakamura and drummer Ryan J Lee. In 2012, the trio finished its first studio album in Beijing with Golden Buddha and Marc Vincent, president of Sennheiser China, supervising production. The album featured a recording of “Giant Steps,” a highly demanding works by John Coltrane. Ryan J Lee is an extremely versatile drummer from Missouri, USA. He has performed with numerous well-known jazz and gospel artists. Kengo was born in Osaka, Japan. He learned the classical guitar at the age of 12. He switched to the electric bass at 17.
