Amok Theater from Brazil will stage “Salina — The Last Vertebra” at Huangpu Theater on January 5.
“Salina — The Last Vertebra,” is a play written by Laurent Gaude and was premiered in Rio de Janeiro in 2015. It delves into ancient Africa to tell us an universal and timeless story that is inspired by African-Brazilian traditions, especially Congado, which is a kind of theatrical and religious performance.
The theme of “Salina” is an epic tale about hate and forgiveness. It brings us an imaginary Africa, going into a deep human work.
